Several members of the INEQKILL team recently presented their research at the Belgian Demography Day, held on 25 April 2025 in Leuven.
Philippe Paeps shared findings from his spatiotemporal analysis of inequalities in cancer-specific mortality in Belgium between 1961 and 1991, while Marina Vergeles presented her work demonstrating that duration of stay does not affect migrant mortality in Belgium, highlighting instead the greater importance of country of birth and socio-economic status.

These contributions underscore the ongoing commitment of INEQKILL to advancing our understanding of social and spatial disparities in mortality. We are proud to see our researchers actively engaging with the broader demography community and sharing insights that help illuminate the roots of ‘ultimate inequality’ in society
